Today you lost a sale. Who, you say, well it could be any one of you but today's victim was California Innovations.
We were introduced to them and one of their products many years ago when on QVC we saw their Grocery Bag. We thought it was neat, it could keep ice cream from melting for a long time surely longer than our 30 min drive grocery shopping so we bought one. And it works exactly as advertised, even now nearly a decade later its still in use, wonderful product.
While Samsung does seemingly have a good track record when it comes to updates abroad their current history of providing updates in the US is somewhat lackluster. The Captivate was released in July and just received its update to Froyo in late February. As of February 5th 57.6% of Android devices were on Froyo according to Google and as of that date only one of the Galaxy S phones released on a major US carrier updated to Froyo was the Vibrant.
With all the rumors flying around about Samsung and why they aren't providing updates to US phone owners, I would like to make a request of all of the sites providing quality Android coverage.
Stop doing product announcements, reviews, and leaks of Samsung devices.
Samsung, I have purchased one of your products for the last time. Your level of greed is disgusting to me, to treat the end users of YOUR device so poorly is an abomination. Yes, when they buy a subsidised product from a Telco we are their customer but we are also yours. You develop the platform, you produce the software, and you, are ultimately behind my dissatisfaction. It is your fault in the end. You could release the updates we want and deserve, we put our faith in you providing us with a platform you would provide updates for you and spit in our face.
Some well meaning fool recently decided that it would be better if the Android market had a 15 minute return policy. This was the stupidest damn move ever. It used to be 24 hours, quite a fair time frame. Now however if your an app developer you can game the system. I was shown how in what I hope was an unintentional fashion by the people who did the Quake 3 port. I wanted to try this to see how it would perform and play on my Captivate but didn't see a trial, so I purchased it figuring I could try it and return it. I purchased the app and downloaded it, or so I thought.
Here is a letter I sent the Consumerist;
Due process is dead, it was sacrificed so you could be safe from terrorists and Hollywood could be safe from pirates ( http://bit.ly/e0GZCH ). You are now public enemy #1. Present your papers whenever asked. Submit to any personal searches the government wishes ( http://bit.ly/i4Ix94 ), all for the better of every else.
So you will be happy to hear that the hard working AG offices in the following states have managed to stamp out all vestiges of prostitution in their states;
Arkansas, Connecticut, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Just wanted to further share a comment I made to whomever runs the Google Android OS account on facebook recently...
A letter I penned to the AJC. Tried to send it to NewsAmerica but their web forms for email are so damn broken I couldn't even send it.
